Deeper with Distinguished Alumni - Anna Becker Destro

Auburn alumna, Georgia coach

Anna Becker Destro is part of the 2026 class for NCEA Distinguished Alumni, being named to the Equine Industry category for Coaching.

"Anna has established herself as one of the most successful jumping seat coaches in the country," said Auburn head coach Jessica Braswell. "She was an integral part of Auburn’s program as a student-athlete, being a consistent contributor in Flat competition. She was able to develop an understanding of what it takes to win championships as a student-athlete and bring her experience to coaching. In the early part of her career, she had success in the Big 12 and has since won national championships as a coach at UGA. She has been honored by her peers multiple times as an assistant coach of the year as well as being an active member in the coaches’ organization. She has dedicated most of her post graduate career to developing the sport of equestrian and impacting the lives of young women at Kansas State and the University of Georgia.

  • Completed Master of Science in Sports Business from NYU
  • 2x Academic All-America Honorable Mention (2012, 2013)
  • SEC Academic Honor Roll (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)
Athletic Success
  • Member of National Championship team in 2011 and 2013
  • Member of SEC Championship team in 2010 and 2011
  • Was a competitor in the Flat event for Auburn all 4 years, and had a winning post season record through SEC and National Championships of 5-2

  • Over 100 hours of community service for several charities and organizations (2008-2013)
Postgraduate Success
  • Assistant Equestrian Coach at University of Georgia (2018-present)
  • Kansas State Equestrian Team Assistant Coach (2013-2015)
  • Coached UGA to a National Championship in 2021
  • 2021 NCEA Assistant Coach of the Year (Jumping Seat)
  • Coached Kansas State to Big XII Reserve Championship (2015)
  • Elected VP of Strategic Communications Committee for NCEA (2022-2025)
  • Coached the Georgia team to the 2025 National Championship
  • Promoted to Associate Head Coach at Georgia (2025)
